Collaborating with Kings College London
The Friends have signed up to a joint venture with staff and students at Kings College London (KCL) that will help us develop the programme we deliver from the new Brixton Windmill Centre in 2020.
The aim of the Kings College Civic Challenge is to co-create imaginative solutions that deliver positive change in the communities of Lambeth, Southwark and Westminster where KCL students live and study. On 23 October two of our trustees attended an afternoon event where, with other local community charities, we were invited to pitch a project we want to develop to students and staff.
We are now waiting to be matched to a team that will work with us over the next months to develop a strategy and write up a proposal. These proposals will then be shortlisted, and the best five projects go forward to be judged in March to be taken forward to become a reality. They may also benefit from up to £5,000 funding for the charity and continued coaching and help with monitoring and evaluation.
At the match-making event last month we met some talented and interested students and staff, so we are hoping that our project will be selected and will benefit from this great initiative to take the talents of KCL out into Lambeth.
