Can you donate equipment for our new education centre?

Brixton Windmill fit out appeal

With construction of the education centre finally making progress, it’s time to update you on our Fit Out Appeal.

After the fantastic response to our crowdfunding campaign last summer, which raised over £15,000, we set about applying for grants to make up the total of £29,000 required.

Viv Whittingham, who heads up our fundraising group, says: “Fundraising is hard work, and now is a particularly challenging time to raise funds. But we got a generous grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery for equipment and from Awards for All and the Western Riverside Environmental Fund for landscaping and outside work. We’re anxiously waiting for a decision on two other applications we have put in for more equipment.”

So as well as financial donations, we’re looking for organisations who may be able to donate equipment for the café, storage, cleaning, and baking classes.

For example, we need:

  • sets of kitchen utensils for our baking classes, including baking trays, cake and loaf tins, mixers, bowls, blenders, chopping boards, whisks, and cooling racks
  • catering equipment for our café for visitors and education workshops, including cutlery, mugs, glasses, plates, kettle, tea urn, coffee machine
  • storage facilities, including free-standing shelving and racking, heavy-duty containers, toolbox and tools, grain trolley
  • cleaning equipment, including a washing machine, vacuum cleaner, aqua vac, brooms and mops.

Obviously all equipment needs to be robust and meet required safety standards.

If you would be willing to donate such equipment to get our new education centre off to a flying start, or if you know of another organisation that might do so, please email info@brixtonwindmill.org.uk.
