Benefit night and bake-off

It's another busy week for the Friends of Windmill Gardens.

Benefit night
Our generous neighbours at the Windmill pub are holding a benefit night this Thursday 26 April to raise money for our recycling festival and parade on 7 May.

Doors will be open from 7.30pm and we are asking for a donation on the door (suggested amount is £5 or as much as you can give).

There will be a raffle and live music, with two bands announced so far – Tall Tales and The Hobos – that sound really fun and will have us all dancing!

Based in south London, Tall Tales are a neo folk rock band formed in early 2012 made up of bassist and lead singer Oliver Gamblin, guitarist Juan Sebastian Caicedo and drummer Matthias Fuchez.

Meanwhile, The Hobos cross paths in London to bring you travelling folk music with twinges of bluegrass and a longing for the open road. They will be releasing their first EP next month, also at the Windmill pub.

As usual, the baking Friends among us are rustling up some treats for sale on the evening – we are always looking to recruit more bakers so please let us know if you can bring something along!

Brixton Bake Off
Talking of baking, the Friends will also be having a stall at the Brixton Bake Off this Saturday 28 April at Brixton Market, Station Road, 10am-5pm.

The scrumptious cakes, cupcakes, biscuits, pies and bread will be judged by Levi Roots and Victor Scalzo of famed Patisserie Valerie, and there will be two swing dancing groups and a jazzy performance from a three-part harmony group.

The Friends' stall will be promoting our recycling parade and festival on 7 May, as well as selling T-shirts, postcards and other merchandise. So come along and say hello!
