Welcoming our new Volunteer Coordinator
We would like to welcome Alice Ashton our new part time Volunteer Coordinator at Friends of Windmill Gardens. Alice started with us in mid March and brings lots of experience of working with volunteers in similarly sized local organisations.
Here are some words from Alice: “I’m a local resident who has worked as a community gardener and coordinator of projects that aim to teach people about ecology, plants and places. Brixton Windmill is the perfect combination of things that I find really exciting i.e. historical buildings, public space, small scale food production and the power of local communities to share knowledge about these things with each other. I am really looking forward to being part of such a successful people powered example of treasuring our local landmarks and making them fun and interesting places for everyone to enjoy. I’m really grateful to everyone at FoWG for welcoming me and showing me the ropes and I’m looking forward to meeting all the volunteers, learning more about milling and joining and some of the lovely events we’ve got planned!”
