Winter heritage wheat

You may remember that we planted some heritage wheat and barley behind Brixton Windmill earlier this year. Although it germinated well, it hasn’t grown brilliantly since.

But we’re not ones to give up! We’re planning to plant some winter heritage wheat later this month, and to create a wildflower bed next spring. Winter wheat has been grown quite successfully in the nearby allotments (see photo, above), so we’re hoping this will turn out better.
