Herbert Morrison School mills flour
Thirty year three children from Herbert Morrison Primary School in Vauxhall were the first group to use the windmill’s hand millstones. On Wednesday 14 March 2012 I visited the school with a bag of wheat and a hand quern. The children watched a film about how flour is made today and then they were shown how to make flour using a hand quern. The children are studying the Romans at the moment so it was a perfect opportunity to see at first hand how flour would have been made 2,000 years ago. Thanks to Nick and Scott for their help that day.
