Hands On – First Creative Workshop for Adults

Camila Cardenosa, the artist who is leading the ?Hands On Windmill Gardens? mural project, reports on a successful creative workshop at Windmill Gardens:

?It was a freezing afternoon at Brixton Windmill on January 19th last, where Stephen and I were waiting with a cup of tea and nice piece of cake for members of the Friends of Windmill Gardens to arrive for the first ?Hands On? creative workshop for adults.

The intention of the workshop was to collectively create some sentences that would show our thoughts, feelings and knowledge about Windmill Gardens. The sentences that surfaced during the activities highlighted the passion that the community has about the Windmill and its Gardens. Some of them will eventually be incorporated into the mural?s final design!

? Brixton Windmill has the power to bring people together ?
? The Windmill is a secret gem, hiding in Brixton ?
? If it wasn?t for the Windmill we wouldn?t have met ?

Thank you so much to all the participants for coming during that freezing afternoon to share your thoughts about the Windmill. It was a real pleasure to share with you the love that we feel about the ?Best Keep Secret in London?

Special Thanks to Jean and Annick for bringing the delicious lemon cake and the soup that warmed us up. Also, thank you to Thomas Kranabetter and Owen Llewellyn for helping us with the video and pictures. Last, but not least, we would like to thank Silvia Gomez and Daniel Orrantia, who helped us to design this workshop.

Remember that the next Workshop for adults will be next 9th of February, where we will continue exploring about the past, the present and the future of ?our gem? To book a place on this workshop, send an email to Stephen Lawlor at slawlor@lambeth.gov.uk
