Exciting developments in ?Hands On? mural project
Over the last week some very exciting developments have happened in the ?Hands On Windmill Gardens? mural project!
On Wednesday last, we hosted the final workshop as part of the design process. Children from Holmewood Nursery attended and created beautiful images depicting the tale of the ?Little Red Hen? which will appear within the mural to be used as a visual aide for this popular educational workshop in the future. All of the artworks created during the design workshops will be on display, weather permitting, throughout windmill Gardens during the Easter egg hunt event on Sunday March 31st from 2-5pm.
Then, on Friday last, a delivery of two hundred paint brushes arrived courtesy of Veolia and Emerson, who are kindly supporting the project. They will also be donating all of the paint needed, which we expect to have soon. We will be delivering some of these donated paint brushes to local businesses and press along with an invite to come and help us to paint Brixton?s newest mural in April.
Yesterday morning, contractors working on behalf of Mears, another of our sponsors, began preparing the wall itself in Windmill Gardens. Over the coming week it will be rendered, leaving us a smooth, blank canvas, ready for painting!
The FoWG general meeting this Thursday 21st of March will be your first opportunity to see the draft design for the mural, which Camila has been working tirelessly on for the past two months. We will be giving a presentation that outlines the work that our 245 participants to date have undertaken to help create the design. All FoWG volunteers and members are welcome ? the meeting will be held at 7pm at St Paul?s Community Centre, 24 Blenheim Gardens SW2 5BZ.
