Green Flag Award 2025

Windmill Gardens has again been awarded the Green Flag Award as it is officially recognised as one of the country’s best parks
Friends of Windmill Gardens is celebrating after receiving a Green Flag Award for Windmill Gardens park.
The news that Windmill Gardens has achieved the accreditation – the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the green space so that visitors and residents alike can enjoy it.
Congratulating this year’s winners, Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said:
“We are thrilled to see that an incredible 2,250 sites have met the standards required for a Green Flag Award, reflecting the tireless work of the people tasked with caring for and improving these crucial national assets.
“Our quality parks and green spaces make the UK a heathier place in which to live and work, and a stronger place in which to invest.”
Chair of Trustees for Friends of Windmill Gardens, Nick Weedon said
“We are extremely pleased to be awarded the Green Flag once again thanks to the hard work of our volunteer gardeners. As well as improving planting areas we have also improved the park paths and have installed lighting thanks to a grant from Lambeth Council. The fortnightly visits from students from Share Community have also created new vegetable beds and a sensory garden area facilitated by Urban Canopy. The park is looking beautiful for our residents and visitors alike”.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
