The Friends of Windmill Gardens have signed an agreement allowing Lambeth Council to use the Brixton Windmill Centre as a community testing site for people who may have Covid-19 but are not experiencing any symptoms and so might unknowingly be spreading the virus. The centre will operate as a community testing site from 6 January, open 9am – 3.30pm. See here for more information on how to book a free test if you have no symptoms.

Because of the government’s total lockdown, all the activities that would normally take place in the centre, including the pop-up café, weekly tai chi sessions and monthly gardening sessions, are on hold anyway until the end of February. Our online shop will continue to operate, but delivery times may be longer, as we will have limited access to merchandise stored at the centre.

Our volunteer millers are continuing to produce flour while observing the government guidance on social distancing. All flour we produce is delivered safely by our volunteers to our established retail outlets, including local shops that remain open to customers and those  that are closed to the public but provide home deliveries of groceries. We also continue to make regular donations of Brixton Flour to two local food banks.

We wish to thank all of our supporters for their understanding and patience during this difficult time for everyone.
