We’re looking for a new Chair of the Board!

Our Chair of the Board, Toussainte Reba, is stepping down after 3 years as Chair, and we’re looking for someone to lead our Board as we work towards our 2023-2026 Business Plan.

The Chair has the responsibility for leading a dedicated group of Trustees, Members and Volunteers through collective decision-making and leadership.  We hold 8 Board Meetings a year, as well as our Annual General Meeting in October and Spring General Meeting in April.

You will have proven leadership skills working at a senior level (paid or voluntary), experience of chairing and facilitating meetings, and the ability to be both strategic and “hands on” in the role.

What are we looking for?

  • Lead the board and the organisation to enable it to fulfil its purpose
  • Lead the long-term strategy and direction of the organisation
  • Ensure an effective relationship between:
    • the Board and the staff/volunteers
    • the Board and the external stakeholders/community
  • Act as a spokesperson and figurehead as appropriate.
  • Plan and prepare the Board meetings and AGMs with others as appropriate.
  • Chair Board meetings.
  • Ensure adequate support and supervision arrangements are made for FoWG employees (currently two part-time staff members) and any other staff/volunteers that are directly managed or report into the Board.
  • Support long-term succession planning for the Board
  • Fulfil all statutory requirements related to the role of Chair.
