A unique mill in the heart of London

"Beautifully restored - reminds me of childhood visits to East Anglian windmills". Paul Crowley, visitor

We are delighted and proud to announce that Brixton Windmill has won the Museums and Heritage Award for Excellence 2012 for Restoration/Conservation.

This unique and much-loved building is open for visits on 22 days this year.

This will be our first full season of open days, and we have lots of special events planned, from Easter egg hunts and arts and crafts to drawing with flour and spooky Hallowe'en stories.

For a full list of opening days and to book a guided tour, see the Visit page for more information.

Vote for Brixton Windmill!

The Great Exhibition 2012 gives everyone the chance to nominate their own personal "Great" in Great Britain, in the year that we celebrate the Queen's diamond jubilee and host the Olympic Games.

We have nominated Brixton Windmill in the category "Landmarks and attractions". We currently have more than 260 votes and are lying in third position in this category - so we need more to win "Best in Britain 2012".

So please vote for us - and get your family and friends to do the same! You will have to register your email address to prevent you from entering more than once.
